The winner
intro
INGVAR JOHANSSON
What do you do for living ?
I work as a psychotehrapist, partly in a psychiatric policlinic, partly privatly. I teach a bit too.
Why do you especially focus on wines and how long have you been passionate about this topic ?
I have liked wine for a long time but I got more passionate about it over the last ten years. My main focus is Italian wines, especially Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Piemonte. I go to Italy once or twice a year and always try to visit some producers. I have less knowledge about french wines but I really want to find out more. I'm especially curious about Loire, Northern Rhône and Jura. I have just visited Alsace and that was a very good experience For the last two years I have been getting more and more interested in what often is referred to as Natural wines. I'm also very fascinated in traditional wines made from local grapes.
What are your hobbies ?
When you ask about passions I understand that you want to know something about interests apart from wine. I'm really into music. For a long time that was my main interest. I also used to write about music for various magazines and newspapers. I listen to a lot of different kinds of music but mainly jazz as Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Charlie Mingus. Another big favorite of mine is Bob Dylan. I guess I could go on for a long time here and loose focus...
Film and litterature are other interests. I like cooking, long distance running and fishing too.
YOUR BLOG
Why do you have created a blog ? When did you start to blog ?
I started to blog three years ago for different reasons. One was to take more serious notes and find out more about my own tastes. I think writing is good for that. You need to put your thoughts into writing. Another reason was the sorry state of swedish winewriting. Apart from other bloggers I do not read any swedsih winewriters. They are a lazy bunch and there is almost no one really passionate about wine. In my opinion the most important writers have to close bonds with the importers.
I had the inspiration to start blogging from a few other bloggers, both swedsih and international. It was so refreshing to read independent writers and after a while I thought it possible to start this blog. I also like the interactive aspect of blogging. Often there are very interesting comments and a good discussion.
My co-writer is called Jörgen Andersson. We started the blog together and have been friends since our youth. He is a much better writer than I am so it's very inspirational to work with him.
How do you know the Costières de Nîmes appellation ?
I have written about some wines from Costieres de Nimes. You can find my blogposts here and here. Apart from that I do not know any other wines. I also do not know very much about the apellation, just what I have read from dictionarys, very general stuff.
SECRET WINES’ WINES
Can you share with us your tasting comments ? What do you think about these wines ? Did you tast them alone or with some other friends ?
I tried the wines alone at home. It was wine 079 that struck me as very typical Costieres de Nimes. Atleast it tasted very similar to some other wines from the appelation I had tried. I thought it was a nice everyday wine. Nice berry fruit, some aromas that made me think there had been some maceration carbonique going one. In my first answer this was the only wine I placed in Costieres de Nimes. When I had the information that all three wines came from the same appelation I felt that Costieres de Nimes was the best bet.
I'm very happy to be the winner !
Thank you, and once again, congratulations on your brilliant performance!
